Will This Artist Be Remembered as One of the Great California Masters?

Edgar Payne, William Wendt, Granville Redmond … all names we admire and respect among the top California plein air painters of the past.
A few weeks ago, when Karl Dempwolf was in our studio, I told him that he would be remembered as a great California master like those artists. He blushed.
Karl has a
special touch, a unique voice. As you can see from the image above, he’s an amazing painter.
I could pinch myself — I can’t believe I managed to get Karl to agree to shoot a video for posterity, so his technique will be remembered for hundreds of years. Imagine if we had videos of Wendt, Payne, or Redmond.
